The St Cecilia’s Running Club has been running since 2007.
Students from years 3 – 6 are invited to participate in Running Club, meeting once a week before school to have fun while improving their fitness and developing healthy attitudes towards physical activity.
The group started with approximately 20 students but has now grown to a regular attendance of up to 100 students each week.
The students are encouraged to work towards their own personal fitness goals. It is great to see the improvement students make over time in their level of endurance, speed and level of enjoyment of running.
The Running Club is also an integral part of preparing students for events like Interschool Cross Country and Interschool Athletics. We are fortunate to have a number of staff and parents who volunteer to assist in organising and supervising the weekly sessions.
