Prep Transition at St Cecilia's
At St Cecilia's Primary School, we provide a comprehensive transition program for our ‘new’ Prep students. The children engage in fun activities which build their confidence and friendships, with their teachers and bigger buddies. Students become very familiar with our school, so that they are ready when their 'actual' turn begins.
Letters of Offer for Prep will be posted at the beginning of June.

Interview
Parents and prospective students will meet with the Principal for a short interview during Term 3.

Transition Mornings
St Cecilia’s offers a number of transition mornings where the children will be involved in ‘get to know you’ sessions with the current Prep teachers.

Meet their Year 6 Buddies
The St. Cecilia’s School Buddy Program supports our friendly and caring student body, where strong cross-aged peer relationships are built and maintained.
All Prep students are allocated a Year 6 Buddy to support them with their transition to Primary school, and meet regularly with their Buddy through our ongoing Buddy Program sessions. This ensures a strong friendship is built and younger students continue to feel supported by their elder peers while at school.
Our Year 6 students are involved in a ‘Buddy Preparation Program’ which commences at our Transition Mornings and helps students understand how to be an effective Buddy. The role of the Senior Buddy is to build a positive relationship with the younger student, to be a positive role model for the student to look up to, and to share the joy of learning and being a student at St. Cecilia’s.
Our Buddy Program activities focus on our School Values of Faith, Acceptance, Compassion and Excellence. They help students develop positive social skills and understand and use these values in safe, supportive social settings.

Parent Information Evening
A parent information evening is held in late November to partner with our parents to ensure their children are ready to begin school the next year.

Welcome Mass & BBQ
We commence each year with a welcoming Mass followed by a Family BBQ. This is usually in Week 3. This is a fantastic way for our new and established families to meet informally.
